About MSRON 11
Maritime Expeditionary Security Squadrons are multi-service (Navy/Coast Guard) hardware-equipped, deployable assets that provide centralized planning, control, coordination and integration of MESF assets for protection of strategic shipping and naval vessels operating in the inshore/coastal area, anchorages and harbors, from bare beach to sophisticated port facilities.
MSRON 11 MISSION
Maritime Expeditionary Security Squadron ELEVEN (MAREXSECRON 11) is a unit of the United States Navy within the organizational structure of the Navy Expeditionary Combat Command (NECC) and a subordinate command of Maritime Expeditionary Security Group ONE (MESG-1) in San Diego, CA.
MAREXSECRON 11 traces its roots to the Naval Coastal Warfare community whose mission originated out of the bombing of the USS Cole in Aden,Yemen in 2000. Naval units once known as mobile inshore undersea warfare units, inshore boat units and naval coastal warfare squadrons were the precursor to the Communications/Sensor Department, Boat Department and Security Department that comprise MAREXSECRON 11 today.
MAREXSECRON 11's primary mission is force protection conducted through fleet support with operations around the world. Anti-terrorism and force protection missions include harbor and homeland defense, coastal surveillance, and other special missions. MAREXSECRON 11 is trained to deploy worldwide to detect, deter, and defend an area, unit, or high value asset operating most anywhere from the inshore and coastal anchorages and harbors with bare beaches to sophisticated port facilities. Recent locations that Maritime Expeditionary Security Force (MESF) sailors have deployed to include the Korea, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Iraq, Afghanistan, United Arab Emirates, and Egypt.
MAREXSECRON 11 is a highly trained and motivated team of security specialists from a myriad of U.S. Navy ratings that complement each other and the mission. Ratings range from Master-at-Arms to Boatswain's Mates, to Information Technology Specialists to Hospital Corpsmen. Our sailors receive extensive Expeditionary Warfare training including small arms and crew-served weapons qualification, entry control point security, harbor defense, VBSS and combat first aid prior to deploying in support of U.S. Navy operations worldwide.
